When most Americans think about Canadian sports, games like Hockey and curling come to mind. But one young baller aims to change that. Jordan Zlomislic is a 7th grade QB and WR with the Rideaau Redblacks in Ottawa that hopes to blaze a trail straight to the NFL.
During his 6th-grade valedictorian speech at Holy cross, Zlomislic stated that his top 3 priorities in life were School, Family, and Football in that order. He credits his father, a former Canadian football star in his own right, with his determination to be great on the field. “When I was 6, I started playing football. My dad taught me most of what I know. He had the chance to go the CFL, but opted to work with his dad in the family business. I wouldn’t have football on my mind if I didn’t have such a great Dad”.
Jordan acknowledges that he has a better shot at getting to the NFL by going to college in the US he explains “in Canada, you have a 3% shot at the NFL”. This drives him in the classroom and on the field. We expect great things from this young man as he continues to warn us – Don’t Sleep on Canada!
